Inaugural Exhibition Features Tyler Hobbs at the Museum of Art and Light

Tyler is excited to announce his participation in the inaugural exhibition at the Museum of Art and Light (MoA+L), a groundbreaking institution set to open its doors in November 2024. Located in Manhattan, Kansas, MoA+L is conceived as the first contemporary art museum in the world to showcase immersive, digital, and permanent collections from inception. The museum will explore the convergence of visual art, the creative process and digital technology featuring a dedicated wing for digital art.
The history of art making has always been tied to the history of technological developments. Computers are such an amazing and central technology in our lives that it feels crucial to me that we make and show artwork that focuses on computers and our relationship with them. Besides, the use of technology is part of what makes this artwork feel so new and exciting to experience! To me, this is really the art of our day, and it’s amazing to see a museum embrace that.
The multi-month exhibition, titled Code & Canvas: Defining Digital Art in the Age of the Blockchain will showcase works by Tyler alongside fellow artists: Grant Yun, Emily Xie, Erick “Snowfro” Calderon, and Sasha Stiles. This groundbreaking exhibition marks the first time a museum has dedicated an entire gallery to collect and display digital art permanently.
You can read more about the inaugural exhibition here.

Leading up to the anniversary, we're offering three special auctions in partnership with the MoA+L, Iconic, and ATOM featuring a personally curated trio of pieces selected by Tyler himself.
Tyler will offer three new digital outputs accompanied by their matching framed 30” x 37” artist-stamped, museum-quality print, created using the QQL algorithm he developed in collaboration with Indigo Mané. Using computational methodologies and inspired by the generative mindsets of modern painters, including Sol LeWitt and Bridget Riley, Hobbs’ QQL algorithm explores the possibilities of co-creation and the power of emergence in “long-form” generative art.
One of the pillars of QQL has always been co-creation, and this trio is no exception. One of the three curated pieces will feature the parametric artwork of beloved community member Anders Carlson, showcasing the collaborative spirit that lies at the heart of the project. For the first time, Hobbs will personally curate and mint a trio of QQL outputs, which will be available to collect during the 48-hour auctions.
Auctions Open: Wednesday, September 25th
Bidding Starts At: 9am PT / 12pm ET
Auction Length: 48 hours
Reserve Prices: TBA
Free Shipping For Auction Winners
Please note, because these works will be included in the Museum of Art + Light’s upcoming exhibition, the framed prints will be shipped to the winning bidders at the conclusion of the exhibition.
