2024 Acquisitions
Over the past year, the San Francisco Museum of Modern Art (SFMoMA), the Los Angeles County Museum of Art (LACMA), and the Museum of Art and Light (MoA+L) in Manhattan, Kansas have added Tyler's works to their public collections. As these renowned museums continue to push the boundaries of contemporary art, we are honored that these pieces will inspire future conversations about digital creativity and our evolving relationship with technology.

2024 Exhibitions
Past vs. Present - laCollection at Paris Photo, a group exhibition alongside Jack Butcher ran from November 7-11, 2024 and unveiled New Space, a series of six plotter drawings - where code and hand drawn elements coevolve to create each of the unique works.
Tyler Hobbs has conceived a series of six unique plotter drawings that elegantly blend organic motifs, such as fruits and plants, with representations of nonorganic objects— including a coat, a mannequin, and chairs. In these nonorganic forms, the human body is subtly alluded to, its presence implied yet visually absent. Similarly, the gestural quality of hand-drawn lines is evoked, capturing the essence of manual creation within a mechanized process. To bring these works to life, Hobbs collaborates intimately with a machine, guided by an algorithm he meticulously developed, positioning his practice as a dialogue between the artist and the technology.

Remembrance of Things Future:
Harbor Scene (after John Henry Twachtman)
Remembrance of Things Future is a collaborative project between Cactoid Labs, LACMA, and a series of artists who were invited to reinterpret works in the museum’s permanent collection - creating a dynamic dialogue that bridges art and technology. Launched in June 2024, Harbor Scene (after John Henry Twachtman) was the eighth release in the series.
In 2023, I was presented with the opportunity to create a new work inspired by the collection at LACMA. While browsing the collection, I came across Harbor Scene, and it immediately clicked into place with these gestural ideas I had been contemplating. I decided to take the spirit of Twachtman’s painting and try to abstract and expand it, systematically. Could I preserve that sense of freedom and looseness and still arrive at entirely new compositions? Without control over the precise placement of elements, would the sensations of the harbor environment persist? And how would the computer, with its particular strengths and weaknesses, skew the outcome towards something entirely new?

The Commemorative Folio

Harbor Scene Commemorative Folio
In addition to the three Harbor Scene (after John Henry Twachtman) NFTs, a limited edition set of 20 commemorative folios were created that showcase prints of the Harbor Scene works, the painting by John Henry Twachtman, the algorithm's source code, an essay and quote, the photograph of the family sailboat, a Certificate of Authenticity, and an NCF chip for on-chain registration. Together, these act as an intimate keepsake of inspiration and memories.
Wall Physical Prints

Detail of Wall Print
In 2022, Tyler created Wall, a generative exploration of a brick wall in Austin, Texas. Pushing beyond the digital outputs, in February 2024 Tyler created a limited series of 29 unique prints (and one Artist Proof) on composite concrete boards, each hand-worked to capture the wall's organic imperfections and echo the unpredictable marks of human interaction.

A Message from Tyler

I have a quick announcement about my social accounts and how they will be used going forward. As you may know, my wife and I just welcomed our daughter into the world.
In anticipation of this exciting new chapter, I've decided to shift how I manage my social media accounts. Rather than me running the accounts directly, I've handed over the controls to my studio team. This will allow me to focus on my art practice and spending quality time with my family during this special period. The account names have also changed to "Tyler Hobbs Studio" to reflect this transition.
My studio team will continue to share my artwork and creative process on the accounts. On the occasion that I post or comment directly, I’ll make it very clear that it’s coming from me. Otherwise, you should assume it’s coming from my team. I'm looking forward to this new phase and the opportunity to pour my energy into both my art and my growing family. Thank you all for your support - I'm excited to share this journey with you in the months ahead, even if my direct involvement on social media is more limited.
Gratitude & Wishes
As we approach the end of another remarkable year, Tyler & the Studio Team would like to extend our deepest gratitude for your support across the years. We wish each of you a wonderful holiday season filled with joy and moments of genuine connection with those you love.
Make sure to follow us on our social channels and check out our new LinkedIn page to stay up to date with everything happening at the Studio.
